Conformity and Approval
Approval means confirmation by an expert that products and systems meet and continue to meet the appropriate standards. Approval provides a higher degree of confidence in the performance of a product than a test, as it involves regular auditing to ensure compliance with the prevailing standards.
A certification body verifies the compliance of a product by conducting a conformity assessment. It also ensures that the technical documentation sufficiently supports product compliance. And when the certification body is convinced of product compliance, it issues a certificate to confirm this.
Certification Mark
A product certification mark denotes a certified product for distinguishing it from other products, whose conformity was not evaluated. Only those manufacturers and providers, that have signed the licensing agreement of certificate and product certification mark usage, have right to use this mark. A product certification mark ICECON means that marked production conforms the requirements of applied standard.
What is certification
The term "certificate of conformity" means a written guarantee that a particular product meets the requirements applied to it. In order to issue such a written guarantee, i.e. the certificate of conformity, one shall have a basis or assurance for that.
The certification body acquires this assurance by an examination of characteristics and production procedures of the product to be certified (technical characteristics) whether they really meet the requirements set, which are usually specified in the technical specification (standard) for the product.
